  • Description:This Transitional Rug Could Have Been Woven In Many Areas Of The Navajo Reservation

    1880 To 1910 Is Known As The Transitional Period When The Weavers Were Going From Making Blankets To Making Rugs. The Motif Of This Weaving Is Floating Blanket Design. It Has Big Double Concentric Stepped Diamonds On A Variegated Medium Light Gray Brown Field. Centered In The Diamonds Is A Double Row Of Back To Back Transitional Orange And Brown Greek Key Pattern. In All Four Corners Of The Field Are Brown And White Deep Serrated Concentric Diamonds. The Weaving Is Framed By A Dark Brown And Red Ribbon Border Finished Off With A Dark Brown And White Candy Cane Style Spiral Selvage Cords. Look Closely To Spot Repaired Moth Damage In One Of The Brown Diamonds.
