Navajo Pictorial Double Saddle Blanket 911

  • Description: A Double saddle blanket with a 25 across the top that would show behind a saddle when it was used as a saddle blanket, along with stars, squares, various, diamonds, and maybe the outline of a ranch. All of this is in a salt and Pepper gray field taking up the first quarter of the blanket. Then the white field taking up a little over half of the blanket. Within the field are two red E’s with two light gold backwards E’s, very light orange, red, black and Gray V’s forming diamonds and half diamonds. And a coffee pot. In the bottom salt and pepper gray field are two stars within stars, small whirling logs in squares, crosses with in squares, cow head, feathers, and chevrons on the bottom.

  • Other Details: This saddle blanket could have been commissioned for the 25 Ranch out of Battle Mountain Nevada, One of the state’s oldest and largest ranches. Handspun yarn.
